Borough Council endorses plan to save part of Dansbury Depot

EAST STROUDSBURG – It could cost over a million dollars to move part of what’s left of the Dansbury Depot, and restore it, but the concept has the endorsement from the East Stroudsburg Borough Council.  The council unanimously approved leasing borough-owned land near where the fire-damaged structure stands, but noted the money would have to come from elsewhere.

Private fundraising efforts have been underway since the current owner said he planned to raze the old structure, claiming it was damaged beyond repair.  Demolition, on the most heavily damaged end of the structure, began last week.

According to published reports, owner Troy Nauman has agreed to the idea of preserving a less-damaged portion of the building.
