Drilling company pulls out of Wayne County

WAYNE CO – Cabot Oil and Gas apparently ran out of patience and is pulling out of Wayne and a portion of Pike County.

According to published reports, the company’s long-range plans were stymied by a moratorium imposed by the Delaware River Basin Commission, while it studies the impact of natural gas drilling on the watershed.  The moratorium runs at least through the end of the year, and possibly longer..

The company reportedly will concentrate on its Susquehanna County operation, where it has already drilled more than 100 wells.
