Two charged with marijuana trafficking

Tello

Smith

COOLBAUGH TWP - Officers from the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department executed two search warrants at two separate locations in Coolbaugh Township as part of an ongoing burglary and illegal firearms investigation.

One of the residences is listed as 1226 Larkspur Lane in the Pocono Farms community, Tobyhanna, Pa, Monroe County.   At the time of the search warrant's execution Victor Tello, 19, his 14 year old sister, and another adult male named Ronald Smith, 19, were all found in the home.  Smith was found hiding in a closet after numerous directions by police to come out.  During the search of the residence, numerous items indicative of drug trafficking were located and an additional search warrant was obtained for narcotics violations.

As a result of the search warrant Officers seized several sleeves containing hundreds of empty dime size Apple baggies were found in both Smith's possession and Tello's possession.  Also located in the home were several bags containing marijuana in bulk sizes consistent with those broken down into smaller individual baggies for street level sales.(ie.dime baggies).   Also located was a digital scale along with packaging/manufacturing materials and an empty gallon size baggie with marijuana remnants, also consistent with the bulk transport of marijuana with the intent to deliver or manufacture.  A wad of United States currency was also located with an additional bag of marijuana in a pants pocket.  The currency was also in denominations consistent with street level dealing and totalled $1618.  Also located was evidence consistent with the possession of a 9mm. handgun.

All the aforementioned items are consistent with drug trafficking and the illegal sales of marijuana around our communities.  Both Tello and Smith were arrested and charged with  possession with intent to deliver or manufacture marijuana, criminal conspiracy, possession of marijuana and related drug offenses.  Both were arraigned before Magistrate Fluegel and incarcerated at Monroe  County Correctional Facility.  Tello received a bail of $100,000.  Smith’s bail was set at $50,000.  Both are scheduled for preliminary hearings next Friday in front of Magistrate Fluegel.

The investigation is still ongoing and anyone who has information is asked to contact PMRPD or visit our website at www.pmrpd.com where they can make anonymous tips or provide information to assist in ongoing investigations.
