Police department launches on-line bicycle registration

MATAMORAS - The Eastern Pike Regional Police Department announces a new On-line Bicycle Registration Program that provides essential information regarding your bicycle that can be used to assist the department in your bikes recovery. The service, located at the Eastern Pike Regional Police Department’s Web site at http://www. eprpd.org is available now.

Between 2008 and 2009 nearly 23 bicycles were reported stolen to our department.  In an effort to curtail thefts and recover bicycles we implemented this bicycle registration program.

Your registration provides us with the necessary information so that if your bike is ever stolen, we would have a record of the serial number when you call to make your report.  Having your serial number on hand allows us to enter your stolen bicycle into a law enforcement database that is accessible to law enforcement across the country.

Important things to remember If your bike is stolen...

  • Report any stolen property immediately to the Eastern Pike Regional Police Department at 570-491-4040 or 570-296-7700.
  • Have your bicycle registration number ready and other identification information ready.

Lastly, don't forget:

  • Always wear a helmet.  Pennsylvania Law requires anyone under the age of 12 to wear a helmet.
  • Always lock up your bike.  Whether you use a bike lock or place it in a storage space, keep it under lock and key!
  • Ride your bike safely.  Always follow the rules of the road and be sure to keep a watchful eye on young riders.
