Six arrests, so far, in major heroin trafficking operation

MONROE COUNTY - Over the past several weeks, the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department and the Monroe County Drug Task Force have made several arrests for the trafficking of heroin.

Beginning with the arrests of Roger Lebrun Williams and Amber Brannon on August 11, where they were arrested on a traffic stop in Scotrun. They were found in the possession of approximately 600 bags of heroin and several thousand dollars after travelling to the Allentown area to pick up the drugs and return to Monroe County to sell them to local heroin users. Ongoing investigations have identified the aforementioned individuals and others associated to them as participating in this heroin trafficking trend of daily trips to Allentown, PA and Newark and Patterson, NJ to pick up bulk heroin and return to the Poconos to sell.

On August 22, John Keeney and Jackie Springsteen were also arrested on a traffic stop on Interstate 80. They were found to have in their possession approximately 70 bags of heroin. Their investigation revealed that they had already sold and used approximately 30 bags of heroin between Allentown, where they picked up the heroin, and Stroudsburg where they were arrested. The investigation revealed that these two were associates of Lebrun-Williams and that between the three of them, they were responsible for averaging at least two trips a day, back and forth to Allentown or Newark, over the last several months to distribute heroin in the Poconos. They were responsible for excess of 10,000 bags of heroin a month being distributed in the Monroe County area.

On August 26, Clayton Baker and Alvin Hendricks were also arrested in Pocono Summit after a traffic stop. A search of their vehicle revealed approximately 20 bags of heroin and additional evidence of the illegal sales of the narcotics. Investigation identified the source of the heroin as Patterson NJ and that it was also going to be sold locally. The vehicles used to traffic the narcotics were seized in all of these  cases along with any monies located.

All individuals listed above, with the exception of Alvin Hendricks, were arrested for possession with intent to deliver or manufacture heroin, criminal conspiracy, possession of heroin, criminal use of a  communication device and related drug trafficking offenses. Keeney, Springsteen, and Lebrun-Williams are all incarcerated at Monroe County Correctional in lieu of $100,000 bail each. Baker's bail was set at $20,000.00 and Brannon's bail was set at $25,000. All individuals are awaiting preliminary hearings at different Magistrate's offices throughout the County. Hendricks was found in possession of prescription controlled substances which he did not have prescription for. He was released pending the issuance of a summons for a future preliminary hearing for possession of a controlled substance.

The investigation is still ongoing and additional arrests are expected. Anyone who has information is  asked to contact PMRPD or visit our website at www.pmrpd.com where they can make anonymous tips or provide information to assist in ongoing investigations.
