Pike County judge honored as distinguished citizen of hometown

MILFORD - Pike County President Judge Joseph Kameen was recently honored as a Distinguished Citizen of his hometown, Forest City, at the town’s Old Home Week festival. The honor is bestowed upon a former Forest City resident, born and raised in town, who distinguishes himself in the world by is contribution to his community and profession.

In addition to the Distinguished Citizen award, Judge Kameen was awarded the key to the city by Forest City Mayor Pat Coles.  Pennsylvania Senator Lisa Baker participated in the award ceremony and presented a Proclamation from the Pennsylvania Senate congratulating Judge Kameen on the prestigious award and recognizing his exemplary citizenship.

Kameen was an honors graduate of Forest City Regional High School and a cum laude graduate of both East Stroudsburg University and Dickinson School of Law.  He is a former First Assistant District Attorney of Pike County, was solicitor to many local government bodies and has been President Judge of Pike County since 2004.  Prior to entering law school, he was an English teacher at East Stroudsburg High School for five years.

Kameen was also recognized for his success as a Prosecutor for the Pike County District Attorney’s office prior to his election as Judge and for his continuing contribution to his community by his leadership on the County’s Criminal Justice Advisory Board and his participation on the Prison Board.
