HARRISBRUG - The Office of State Fire Commissioner has been working closely with the Marcellus Gas Safety Committee to develop training programs for first responders and local government officials in the event of accidents at Marcellus Shale drilling sites.

The Office of State Fire Commissioner (OSFC) has developed a “Familiarization Level” class – details can be found on their website at www.osfc.state.pa.us. The OSFC is training its instructors through a series of programs and has placed a link on its website that contains information about the class and other useful information.

The OSFC is also working with the Marcellus Gas Safety Committee to develop additional levels of training. The second phase of training will be available later this year.
