Man gets up to three years for Megan’s Law violation

MILFORD – A convicted sex offender will spend at least a year in jail for failure notify police of a change of address.

Matthew Barnett, 50, of Greentown, PA was sentenced to the Pike County Jail for 12 months to 3 years, and ordered to pay a fine of $800.00 for the crime of Failure to Comply with Sexual Offender Registration Requirements. Between October 23, 2008 and December 4, 2008, Barnett failed to notify Pennsylvania State Police of where he was residing, which he is required to do by law.

Other criminal sentences were issued by Pike County President Judge Joseph Kameen, this past week:

Jonathan Fleming, 21 of Milford, PA was sentenced to the Pike County Jail for 48 hours to 6 months, pay a fine of $ 500.00 and had his driver’s license suspended for one year for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. On July 4, 2009, Fleming drove his vehicle off the road in the Pocono Woodlands, Dingmans Township. His blood alcohol level was .226%.

Robert Heller, 34, of Bushkill, PA was sentenced to the Pike County Jail for 90 days to 5 years, pay a fine of $ 1,500.00, and had his driver’s license suspended for 18 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. On November 30, 2008, on Rt 209 in Delaware Township, Heller was stopped at a DUI Checkpoint. His Blood alcohol level was .19%.

Eric Jacob, 49, of Honesdale, PA was sentenced to a State Correctional Facility for 14 months to five years, pay a fine of $ 500.00 and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $ 3,767.83 for the crime of Criminal Trespass. On September 13, 2009, Jacob and two co-defendants drove through a fenced portion of Blue Ridge Communications Complex in Palmyra Township, and removed numerous industrial batteries.

Erica Nemeth, 31, of Shohola, PA was sentenced to the Pike County Jail for 90 days to 5 years, pay a fine of $ 2,000.00, and had her driver’s license suspended for 18 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. On July 10, 2009, Nemeth was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Her blood alcohol level was .216%.

Gary Tighe, 50, of Barryville, NY was sentenced to the Pike County Jail for 90 days to 5 years, pay a fine of $ 1,500.00 and had his driver’s license suspended for 18 months for the crimes of Driving Under the Influence and a motor vehicle violation. On May 23, 2009 in Matamoras Borough, Tighe was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He refused to consent to a blood alcohol test.

Derek Vonohlen, 20, of Madison Township, PA was sentenced to a State Correctional Facility for 1 year 5 months and 19 days to 4 ½ years, ordered to pay a fine of $ 500.00 and had his driver’s license suspended for one year for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. On August 22, 2009 on SR 507 in Greene Township, Vonohlen was found to be under the influence of alcohol. His blood alcohol level was .024%.
