Hunt continues for man considered armed and dangerous

Johnson

MIDDLE SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP – Police spent much of late Tuesday afternoon and evening looking for a man who assaulted a trooper and fled, following a traffic stop on Business Route 209, in Smithfield Township.

Corey Johnson, 23, of Marshalls Creek, was last believed to be in the area of Foxmoor Village.  He is believed to be armed and should be considered dangerous.

Police say Johnson was a passenger in a car stopped by a state trooper about 9 Monday evening.

The trooper asked Johnson to get out of the vehicle after the driver gave permission for a search.  During a personal search of Johnson, a gun was found.  That’s when a scuffle erupted.  Johnson broke free and fled into the woods.

Johnson is a white male with short dark hair and full beard.  He was last wearing a dark hoodie and gray sweatpants.

Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 570-839-7701
