Weight lowered on Stroud Township bridge

ALLENTOWN – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today they have posted a 28-ton weight restriction or 34-tons for combinations on the Bridge Street Bridge over Pocono Creek in Stroud Township, Monroe County.
       
A recent inspection of the bridge showed deterioration to the main bridge members. Vehicles weighing over 28-tons or combinations weighing more than 34 tons must seek an alternate route.
                        
The Bridge Street Bridge is a concrete box beam bridge built in 1956 and is 119 feet long and 26.5 feet wide. This area of Bridge Street has an average daily traffic of 10,155 vehicles.
