Woman gets up to five years for spitting at cop during DUI arrest

MILFORD –  A New York woman who spit in the face of a police officer during a DUI arrest will spend at least a year in prison.  Robin Rankin, 43, of Port Jervis, NY was sentenced to one to five years, ordered to pay a fine of $ 3000.00 and had her driver’s license suspended for 18 months for the crimes of driving under the influence and aggravated harassment by a prisoner.

On September 13, 2009, Rankin was stopped at DUI checkpoint in Westfall Township, and found to be under the influence of alcohol. She refused to consent to a blood alcohol test. While being arrested, Rankin spit into the face of a police officer.

Several other criminal sentences were issued by Pike County President Judge Joseph Kameen, this week:

Michael Volgarino, 23, of Dingmans Ferry, PA was sentenced to the Pike County Jail for 8 to 23 months, and ordered to pay a fine of $ 1,000.00 for the crime of Delivery of a Controlled Substance. On March 12, 2009, Volgarino delivered 10 dosunits of Suboxone to a confidential informant in Delaware Township.

Randy Cuttler, 28, of Port Jervis, NY was sentenced to a State Correctional Facility for 18 months to 3 years, pay a find of $ 500.00 and ordered to pay restitution for the crime of Access Device Fraud. On July, 23, 2007, Cuttler used a Capital One and Discover Card to make purchases at Wal-Mart and Price Chopper, knowing he was not authorized to use the credit cards.

Steven Johnson, 21, of Scranton, PA was sentenced to the Pike County Jail for 48 hours to 6 months, ordered to pay a fine of $ 700.00 and had his driver’s license suspended for 2 years for the crimes of Driving Under the Influence, and Driving while Operating Privileges are Suspended. On August 15, 2009, Johnson was stopped at a DUI Checkpoint and found to be under the influence of alcohol, and driving while his license had previously been suspended. His blood alcohol level was .155%

Jason Kenyon, 24, of Honesdale, PA was sentenced to the Pike County Jail for 11 to 23 months and ordered to pay a fine of $ 1,000 for the crime of Burglary. On March 31, 2009, Kenyon pried open a basement door in Palmyra Township. Once inside Kenyon took various power tools and construction equipment.

Suzanne Schmidt, 19, of Bushkill, PA was sentenced to one year of probation, and ordered to pay a fine of $ 700.00 for the crime of Receiving Stolen Property. On October 19, 2009 in the Ranchlands Community, Lehman Township, Schmidt was found in possession of three bracelets, a purse, social security card, and employment identification, knowing these items had been stolen.

William Glatz, 29, of Greentown, PA was sentenced to the Pike County Jail for 30 days to 12 months, pay a fine of $ 500.00 and had his driver’s license suspended for 6 months for the crime of Possession of a Controlled Substance. On May 11, 2009, in Greene Township, Glatz was found in possession of a Klonopin tablet knowing he did not have a prescription.

Daniel Conklin, 29, of Port Jervis, NY was sentenced to the Pike County Jail for 72 hours to 6 months, pay a fine of $ 1,000.00 and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. On July 4, 2009, in Westfall Township, Conklin was stopped at a DUI checkpoint, and found to be under the influence of alcohol. His blood alcohol level was .211%.

Trevone Waxter, 25, of Port Jervis, NY was sentenced to the Pike County Jail for 1 to 23 months, pay a fine of $ 1,500.00 and had his driver’s license suspended for 6 months for the crime of Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance. On September 25, 2009, in Milford Township, Waxter was found in possession of 39 individual ziplock baggies of marihuana.
