DELAWARE WATER GAP – John Greene, the owner of Pack Shack Adventures, is due in federal court today to face charges he received child pornography over the past several years.
Greene, 58, is charged with committing the offense between 2006 and February 8, 2010. Greene’s charge stems from an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Lackawanna County Detectives, and Scranton Police.
United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Dennis Pfannenschmidt, stated that Greene faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted of the charge.
Pfannenschmidt noted that this case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
