HARRISBURG - Reps. Mike Peifer (R-Monroe/Pike/Wayne) and Sandra Major (R-Susquehanna/Wayne/Wyoming) announced the awarding of $71,028 in state funding for Wayne County's recycling center from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). "Wayne County residents and visitors pride themselves on the natural environment, lakes and streams," said Peifer. "The more we encourage recycling, the less waste and litter we'll likely see, making our communities better places to live and visit." "Pennsylvania has been continuing to increase its statewide recycling efforts, and here in Wayne County it is no different. Each year we recycle more and more as residents become familiar with the routine of setting paper, glass, plastic and aluminum aside in separate containers," said Major. "The funding the recycling center is receiving from the state will help advance its operations and services." According to DEP, priorities for this funding round included incentive-based programs, alternative-fuel vehicles, multi-government projects and new fiber collection/processing programs. |
