Suspect in four bank robberies caught

STROUDSBURG – Police say the man, originally wanted for robbing the M&T Bank in Stroud Township twice, is in custody in Florida, and is now a suspect in all four recent bank robberies in the Stroudsburg aea.

Shannon Hamilton, 39, was arrested Wednesday in the St. Petersburg area.

Police say Hamilton is a suspect in a January 6 bank robbery in the St. Petersburg area.  The details of that robbery are similar to the four robberies that occurred in December in Monroe County.  The suspect walked into the bank, claimed he had a weapon but did not show one, demanded money from a teller, and left on foot.

The FBI is now involved in the case because Hamilton is suspected of committing robberies in two states.
