BERLIN TWP – An early morning house fire near Beach Lake drew firefighters from three counties and two states, Monday morning.  The fire left a couple homeless and two firefighters in the hospital.

One firefighter sustained some broken bones in a ten-foot fall from the roof.  Another complained of chest pains.  Both will be okay.

The man and wife in the house escaped, unhurt, with their dogs.

The home sustained considerable fire, smoke and water damage.  The cause is under investigation but initial indications is the fire is not suspicious.
