Wayne County drug suspect arrested in NY

NARROWSBURG – It took police in Sullivan County less than an hour to capture a man who fled when they tried to arrest him for being a fugitive from justice from Wayne County.

Deputies from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office went to an address on Route 52, near Narrowsburg, Monday morning in search of Benjamin Bleazard, 20, who was wanted by Pennsylvania authorities on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and DWI.

When a deputy knocked on Bleazard’s door, Bleazard jumped out a back window and ran off into the woods.  The deputy called for backup and was immediately assisted by State Police from Narrowsburg and by sheriff’s K-9 and detective units.

Less than an hour later, Bleazard was spotted coming out of the woods and taken into custody.

In addition to the Pennsylvania charges, Bleazard was charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.

He was arraigned and sent to the Sullivan County Jail without bail, where he is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.
