COOLBAUGH TWP – Police have a suspected ATV thief in custody, after a chase that began on Pope Road in Tobyhanna and ended on the grounds of the Pocono Mountain West High School.

Police were alerted that two men were stealing the four-wheel ATV, shortly before 1 Thursday morning.  The ATV was loaded onto a pickup truck.  The victim followed the pickup as it entered I-380. 

Police saw the vehicle and tried without success to get the driver to pull over.  The pickup exited onto Route 940, and eventually crashed on Stillwater Driver. 

Security at the school notified police, who with the help of a K9, were able to arrest Jason Horton, 25, of Pocono Lake.  Horton is charged with theft of a vehicle, receiving stolen property, eluding police, reckless driving, suspended license, and other crimes. 

Police did not release information on the other suspect reportedly involved in the theft, but say the investigation continues, and additional charges are pending.
