Pike Commissioners reject major training facility bids |

MILFORD - The Pike County Commissioners awarded some of the bids for the long awaited emergency services complex to be built in Blooming Grove this morning. Bids for key components of the project were not awarded, however. The decision to combine bids for the general construction and fire training facility pre-engineered building were cited by the commissioners. The decision to combine bids was made after the commissioners found out they didn’t need to have a company with special certification to build the fire training pre-engineered building. “By combining the bids, we hopefully will be able to save the taxpayers some money,” said Commissioner Rich Caridi. According to the county engineer, the new specifications should be ready to advertise next week, bids will be due by the end of March and bids awarded soon afterward. When asked if this will hold up the ground breaking for the site, Caridi said that it would only put back the ground breaking to May instead of April if all things fall in place. The companies whose bids were accepted were: Bognet,Inc. $794,495 for mechanical construction, GR Noto Electrical $1,195,000 for electrical construction, and C&C Sheet Metal, Inc. $279,916 for plumbing construction. All bids were considered to be the lowest responsible bids for their categories. |
