Fleeing suspect held in lieu of high bail

DELAWARE TWP – A man wanted on a warrant from New Jersey, for fleeing and eluding, was arrested on similar charges following a brief chase in Pike County.

Police observed Samuel Courtright, of Dingmas Ferry, Thursday afternoon, on Woodland Court in Pocono Mountain Water Forest, and attempted to stop him because of the active warrant from Byram Township in Sussex County NJ.  Courtright fled, but was eventually stopped by a roadblock at the intersection of Route 739 and 2001 near Dingmas Ferry.

Pennsylvania State Police charged him with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, recklessly endangering, simple assault and driving without a license.  Bail was set at $50,000 on the local fleeing and eluding charge, with an additional $50,000 for the fugitive warrant.
