No tax increase in Pike budget

MILFORD - The Pike County Commissioners plan to keep taxes flat for another year.

“We are pleased to announce that for the fourth year in a row there will be no tax increase for Pike residents”, Commissioner Rich Caridi said. “The millage will remain the same at a total of 16.29.”

The county budget millage will be 14.54, the county debt service millage will be 1.5 and the county SRCP millage will be 0.25. He continued by saying, “It’s an absolute miracle that for the fourth year in a row we didn’t have to raise taxes. The total amount budgeted for each county department did not change although departments did have to change around some of their line items.”

The county does have a carryover of $1.3 million from last year which helps the new budget. When asked about the good financial shape of Pike County Commissioners Caridi and Wagner both remarked that the people handling Pike’s investments, Biondo Investment Group and Dime Bank have done a wonderful job in helping to keep Pike County in such good financial shape.

Pike County employees are budgeted for a two percent across the board salary increase for 2012.

The 2012 budget will be finalized and adopted on December 28. It will be available on-line for residents to review.
