Monroe County man admits kidnapping former girlfriend

BELVIDERE NJ – A Monroe County man faces five years in prison under a plea deal entered into Friday in a New Jersey court.  Richard Scheuermann, 36, of Sciota, pled guilty to third-degree criminal restraint, aggravated assault and terroristic threats.

Scheuermann was originally accused of forcing an ex-girlfriend to drive him from Lopatcong Township in Warren County NJ to his home in Monroe County.  He admitted threatening the woman’s life with a knife, and then continuing to threaten the woman for another day before finally releasing her.    The incident happened in December 2010.

The original charges carry a 15-year prison term, but the Warren County Prosecutor’s office agreed to recommend a five-year term as part of the plea deal.
