Two dead in separate Monroe crashes

MONROE COUNTY – Two unrelated weekend crashes killed two people and injured others.  One was blamed on weather; the other on alcohol.

One person died in a weather-related crash on Route 611.  The 57-year-old woman, whose name staill had not been released as of Sunday evening, was a front-seat passenger in an SUV which went out of control.  The SUV crossed the center line and was hit by an oncoming car.  The victim’s husband, who was driving the SUV, and the driver of the car, were both taken to the hospital.

Alcohol may have been a factor in a crash that killed an East Stroudsburg man on Interstate 80 late Saturday night.  Police say William Brockett, 46, was a passenger in a car that left the road and flipped.

The driver, Rodney Hightman, 47, of East Stroudsburg, had non-left-threatening injuries.  Police are waiting for blood test results on Hightman.
