Power outages reduced by half since yesterday

POCONOS – Met Ed and PPL still report over 9,500 customers without electricity Thursday afternoon, four days after Tropical Storm Irene hit, doing massive damage to power lines.  That number is, however, less than half what it was Wednesday afternoon.

Despite the apparent reduction in the number of people still out, Med Ed is saying the remaining outages may be more “difficult” because many are isolated and in some cases in hard to access areas.  Met Ed is now saying it may be Sunday, or even early Monday before all power is restored.
