MILFORD – A Pike County jury convicted Xavier Correa, 19, of Lehman Township of the crimes of burglary, criminal conspiracy, and other related charges. Correa’s conviction comes after a two-day jury trial in the Pike County Court of Common Pleas. The charges against Correa stem from an incident on November 26, 2010 at a residence in the Tamiment community. During the trial, evidence was presented that showed that Correa picked out a home to burglarize and entered the home with the use of a crow bar. Correa then looked around the house and then determined that he needed help in trying to carry out items from within the home. After leaving the victim’s home and seeking out the assistance of two juveniles that he knew, Correa re-entered the home with the juveniles with the intent of taking property from the home. It was at that time that the homeowner arrived home and discovered damage to an interior door, along with hearing voices come from within his basement. Not knowing who was in his home or how many people, the homeowner immediately ran out to his house and asked his wife to call the 911. Hearing the homeowner enter the residence, Correa and his confederates immediately fled into a wooded area. After a brief investigation through the Pennsylvania State Police, Correa was apprehended and charged with breaking into the house Correa will be sentenced on October 27. He is currently free on $7,500 bail. |
