Making Strides Against Breast Cancer this coming weekend

WILKES-BARRE - People living in seven local counties, including Monroe, Pike and Wayne, have a chance to do their part in the fight against breast cancer.  The first annual American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will take place Saturday, October 1st at Wilkes University.  The event begins at 8 a.m. and registration is at 7:30.  Residents of all ages in Luzerne, Lackawanna, Wyoming, Monroe, Pike, Wayne, and Susquehanna counties can take part as individuals or as a team in this family friendly 5K Walk.

Since 1993, Making Strides events in other communities across the nation have raised funds and awareness to save lives from breast cancer.  Organizers hope to create a world with less breast cancer and more birthdays.  Making Strides unites communities to honor and celebrate breast cancer survivors, educates women about prevention and early detection, and raises money to help people stay well, get well, find cures, and fight back against breast cancer.  It’s more than just the name of a walk-it describes the amazing progress we’re making together to defeat this awful disease.
