Philadelphia man sentenced to state prison for heroin deals

MILFORD - A drug dealer, who was arrested as part of cooperation between the Pike County Drug Task Force and Pennsylvania State Police, was sentenced in Pike County Court to a state prison term of five to ten years, ordered to pay a fine of $500 and had his driver’s license suspended for one year after pleading guilty to delivery of a controlled substance, and criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance.

On September 8 and September 21, 2011, Dante Rivera, 30, of Philadelphia, and two others made arrangements with an undercover detective to purchase heroin. On September 8, 1.2 grams of heroin were sold for $640 to an undercover detective. On September 21, 2011, 2.5 grams of heroin were sold to an undercover detective for $1, 280 in Blooming Grove Township.

Rivera’s co-defendant Douglas Bednar was also in court to plead guilty delivery of a controlled substance, and criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance. Bednar is scheduled to be sentenced on June 7 at the Pike County Courthouse. Another co-defendant, Albert Vega, was previously sentenced to serve 26 to 56 months in prison for his role in the conspiracy.
