Murder of two men not a random act, police say

COOLBAUGH TWP – Police reportedly are making progress in their investigation of how two men wound up shot to death in a park near Tobyhanna early Friday.  Pocono Mountain Regional Police say the crime “does not appear to be a random act of violence”.

Bertoldo Velez, 55, and Joseph King Jr., 38, had been shot several times.  Velez’s head was also smashed with a large rock.

Both men, who were neighbors in Penn Estates, and worked at the same Mount Pocono business, were found with Velez’s car, in a park off Route 423.  Velez was on the ground outside the car.  Bertoldo was in the passenger seat.

An autopsy was done Saturday.
