Inmate charged with assaulting jail guard

SNYDERSVILLE - The Monroe County District Attorney’s Detective Division has arrested an inmate at the Monroe County Correctional Facility for aggravated assault on a correctional officer.

On August 17, at approximately 8:00 p.m. a female correctional officer was conducting a search of Daniel Reposh, an inmate at the facility incarcerated for a DUI violation. The correctional officer entered the cell that Reposh occupied and started a routine search for contraband. When the correctional officer began a search of Reposh’s locker she was stuck by a “lancet” (a needle used by diabetics to get a blood sample). The needle was secured by a band aid in an area of the locker where you would put your hand to open it.

An MCDA detective was called to the correctional facility to investigate. Reposh admitted to the detective that he “booby trapped” his locker to keep people out of it. The detective also learned that the “lancet” (needle) was used by Reposh as he is diabetic. Reposh concealed the needle after he checked his blood sugar and set up the “booby trap” in his locker. The needle contained traces of blood.

Reposh is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated harassment by a prisoner, assault by prisoner, all felonies, and misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person and possessing instruments of a crime.

The correctional officer has been treated for the “dirty needle” stick and is currently under her doctor’s care for future observation.  He has returned to work.
