WESTFALL TWP - A joint investigation by the Pike County, PA District Attorney’s Office, Eastern Pike Police and the Port Jervis, NY Police Department Thursday night led to the arrest of a Port Jervis woman and the seizure of 782 bags of heroin with a street value of $11,730.
Nydia Acevedo, 38, of 34 Hammond Street in Port Jervis was arrested after she sold 50 bags of heroin to an undercover detective in Westfall Township, PA. After her arrest, a search of her vehicle revealed $900 in cash and four more bags of heroin.
An investigation revealed Acevedo was distributing a large amount of heroin in the Matamoros, PA- Port Jervis, NY area for the past several months, police said. It is estimated she sold some 300 bags of heroin weekly making over $2,000.
After an undercover detective from the Pike DA’s Office bought heroin from Acevedo in January, they contacted the Port Jervis PD, which was able to secure a search warrant for her residence.
That was served Thursday night and police discovered a large quantity of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Police said she was also selling syringes to heroin users along with the drugs.
In Pike County, she is charged with two felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance; two counts of criminal use of a communication facility; and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was arraigned and remanded to the Pike County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Acevedo also faces charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell, a felony, for the seized heroin. |
