Brown announces reelection run

Brown

EAST STROUDSBURG - State Representative Rosemary Brown (R-189) announced on Thursday that she will run for re-election to Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives in 2012, and that she has filed more than the necessary number of signatures to have her name placed on the ballot.

“In 2010, the people of the 189th District sent me to the state capital because they were tired of out-of-control spending and borrowing that hurt our economy.  I have worked hard to answer their call for change by restoring fiscal sanity to state government and making our state more competitive in the national marketplace,” said Brown.  “We have achieved many things thus far, but I know there is still much to be done which is why I am running for re-election.”

Brown noted several initiatives that have become law or passed the State House with her support as examples of the positive direction in which Pennsylvania is heading.  These include:

  • Passing a balanced budget by the constitutionally mandated deadline (for the first time in nearly a decade) without raising taxes and while meeting the challenges of a $4 billion deficit left by the previous administration;
  • Changing state law to restrict school tax increases beyond the rate of inflation unless by voter approval and limiting cap exceptions to only three (rather than the previous twelve) - one of the most significant school property tax relief  measures taken in the last 20 years;
  • Making Pennsylvania more competitive in the national jobs marketplace through initiatives like the Angel Investor Tax Credit, and reforms to the state's tort system, business tax structure, and welfare system;
  • Despite the loss of billions of dollars in federal stimulus funding, committing more state tax dollars to basic education than ever before;
  • Passing bi-partisan legislation through the House to commit 100% of gaming  revenues to property tax relief
