ELDRED TWP – The 57 Hotel, a longtime landmark in Kunkeltown, was destroyed by fire early Wednesday morning.  The hotel on Christmas Road housed a bar and restaurant on the ground floor and six apartments on the second floor. 

Four people sleeping in the hotel when the fire broke out around 3 a.m. made it out unhurt. 

The fire appears to have started in a front office, but determining an exact cause could be difficult because of the extent of damage.
