Reward increases for arrest in animal torture cases

KUNKLETOWN –   Thanks to generous donations from concerned citizens, a $2,000 reward is now being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a case involving the mutilation deaths of three exotic birds.

On Sunday, May 20,   Pennsylvania SPCA Humane Law Enforcement officer Elizabeth Anderson was called to investigate a home on Robin Hood Drive in Kunkletown.   The residents reported someone had broken into their home and brutally killed three exotic pet birds. Two other birds were unharmed.  The dead birds, two lilac-crested Amazon parrots and a conure, were found dead with stab wounds and numerous other injuries.  The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the burglary in conjunction with the break-in.

“These beloved family pets were brutally tortured and killed and the family is distraught,” said Anderson.  “We believe that there are individuals in the community who have more information, and we urge them to come forward.”   Anyone with information in this case can call the Pennsylvania SPCA’s anti-cruelty hotline at 1-866-601-SPCA.
