Administrative shuffle in the Delaware Valley School District

Finan accepts thanks from the board for many
years of service

WESTFALL TWP - The Delaware Valley School Board promoted two administrators to higher positions.

Shohola Elementary School Principal Dr. Margaret Schaffer was promoted to Director of Elementary Education/Principal of Elementary Schools. Dr. James Purcell was promoted from Director of Elementary Education to Director of Secondary Education/Principal of Secondary Schools.
Both positions are effective August 1.  Both will receive $128,000 in annual salary, prorated.

Dr. Schaffer’s position as Shohola Principal will be advertised beginning today.

The school board also thanked retiring superintendent Dr. Candis Finan for her many years of service to the district.

“It was a privilege to serve DV all these years”, Finan said.  “I hope I did you proud.”

Even though Finan is retiring as superintendent, she is not going away.  On a 7-1-1 vote the board approved hiring her a as a consultant, when needed.  She will be paid $107 per hour but no more than $750 for any one day. The board has $75,000 in the budget for all consulting fees.
