Two East Stroudsburg elementary schools to remain open

EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg school board decided to keep all schools open next year.

The board had been considering closure of either J.M. Hill or Smithfield elementary schools, as a way to save money.  Both schools have seen declining enrollment.  Closing them would save the district more than $2 million.

Last night, the board voted seven in favor with one abstention, to keep the schools open.
