Kukday

STROUDSBURG – Detectives from the Monroe County District Attorney's Office arrested an Ohio man who thought he would be meeting with a 15-year-old girl on the Internet.  Kaustubh Kukday, 28, of West Chester, Ohio faces multiple charges, including several felonies, as a result of the online sex crime investigation.

On May 18, a detective began an undercover investigation in an online chat room to locate and identify individuals using the Internet to gain access to, seduce, and entice children for the purposes of sexual exploitation.  The detective was posing as a 15 year old female, and was contacted by Kukday, who said he was a 26 year old male from Ohio, but would be visiting Scranton in early June.  During the ensuing online conversation, Kukday asked the detective to meet him in the Stroudsburg area and have sex with him.  Over the next few weeks, Kukday repeatedly contacted the detective in that same chat room, and continued to discuss meeting and having sex.

A prearranged meeting took place on June 7, in Stroud Township, at which time Kukday was arrested.  Kukday subsequently admitted to traveling from his hotel in Wilkes-Barre to Tanite Road with the intention of meeting a 15 year old girl and having sex with her. 

Kukday was charged with attempted Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Unlawful Contact With Minor, attempted Aggravated Indecent Assault, attempted Corruption of Minors, and Criminal Use of Communication Facility.  All of the charges are felonies.  Kukday is in the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 bail.
