Bridge Commission helping spread the ‘no texting’ message

NEW HOPE - The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission has joined forces with AAA Mid-Atlantic and state and county agencies to help raise awareness of Pennsylvania's new texting-while-driving ban which took effect at midnight this morning.

Last week, the Commission stationed portable, electronic variable-message signs at its six highway river crossings including Delaware Water Gap (I-80) Toll Bridge. The signs display a two-flash message: "NO TEXT/WHILE/ U DRIVE -- PA LAW/MARCH 8/ $50 FINE."

The Commission also has installed small fixed signs at seven of its lower-volume bridges where it is feasible to install signs, including the Milford-Montague Toll Bridge.
