One dead in crash that closes I-80 for hours

HAMILTON TWP – A late-morning accident on Interstate 80 killed a Long Pond woman and tied up traffic for several hours.  The accident happened about 11:30 Tuesday morning.

Police say Concetta Terlizzi, 77, of Long Pond, was killed when the SUV in which she was a passenger, collided with a tractor trailer.  The SUV, driven by her husband, Joseph Terlizzi, 76, was trying to change lanes at the time.

Both vehicles were heading west.  The truck crossed the median and blocked both east lanes, shutting down I-80 in both directions for several hours.

Joseph Terlizzi was hospitalized.
