TOBYHANNA TWP – Police are holding an East Stroudsburg man on several charges after an incident at a home in Emerald Lake Estates on Sunday.  Alexander Gibson, 25, is accused of breaking into a home, then assaulting and attempting to rape a 24-year-old woman and causing several injuries. 

The woman’s one-year-old child was in the same room.

The victim identified Gibson as the suspect and said that she was awakened by him after he had entered the home.  She said that she lost consciousness during the attack, but later was able to call 911 and her mother. 

The victim was treated at a local hospital.

Police later located Gibson at his mother’s house and arrested him without incident.  He is charged with burglary, assault and attempted rape.
