CHERRY RIDGE TWP – A single engine plane nosed into the ground near the Cherry Ridge Airport in Wayne County, killing the pilot, Saturday.  Jeffrey Gilbert, 67, of Rock Hill, in Sullivan County NY died at a hospital two hours after the mid-day crash. 

An autopsy will be performed Monday.

Details on from where the flight originated could not be learned. 

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration will both investigate the crash.
