Admitted baby killer gets life |

HONESDALE – The father who admitted killing his newborn daughter with a cinder block will spend the rest of his life in prison. Christopher Fitzpatrick, 21, was sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole. Sentencing took place in Wayne County Court on Thursday. Following Fitzpatrick’s arrest in June 2011, police say he admitted taking the baby to the woods and killing it. The day-old infant’s mother, Jennifer Barrise, was also charged with murder. She faces trial in October. Police said at the time it appeared the parents felt they could not afford to raise a child, and took the tragic course of action, rather than use resources that would have allowed them to turn the child over at a church, or to police, with no questions asked. Fitzpatrick and Barisse are both charged with criminal homicide and concealing the death of a child. |
