Girl seriously hurt after trespassing at power substation

DINGMANS FERRY – An eleven-year-old girl is in critical condition after climbing a fence at a Met Ed substation on Doolan Road, and receiving a substantial jolt of electricity. 

The incident happened last Tuesday evening, shortly after 8:00 p.m.  State Police released details late yesterday.

According to the brief information provided by police, the girl climbed over the fence then received the severe shock while inside the compound. 

According to other sources, the girl, who lives in Birchwood Lakes, was walking with her brother and a friend.  The victim and her brother reportedly scaled a six-foot portion of the fence.  The other girl stayed outside.

The girl may have received the jolt from arcing current.  Her brother was not hurt.

The victi was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Police and Met Ed employees responded immediately to the scene.

The name of the victim has not been released.  Police are providing no further information.
