E-Z Pass signup at Water Gap bridge

DELAWARE WATER GAP - Motorists who travel on I-80 and currently use cash to pay tolls at the Delaware Water Gap Toll Bridge will have convenient means to obtain on-the-spot E-ZPass electronic tolling accounts on two dates in October,.

E-Z Pass QuickStart sign-up sessions have been scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, and Friday, October 26, at the Delaware Water Gap Welcome Center at River Road and Broad Street in Smithfield Township, PA. The Welcome Center may be accessed easily by taking Exit 310 from I-80 east of the toll bridge.

QuickStart sessions offer an expedited application process enabling commuters to sign up for E-ZPass and leave with an active tag with a $25 account balance in under 10 minutes. (The Commission charges a $1 monthly account fee, and up to four transponders can be registered to a single account.) Customers must bring their vehicle registration cards, driver licenses, and a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover).

E-ZPass provides many advantages for frequent commuters and long-distance travelers, including:

  • Discounts: Commission E-ZPass account holders who frequently use the agency's toll bridges - those who make 20 trips within a 35-day cycle - are eligible for automatic 40% rebated discounts on their tolls, paying 60 cents compared to the $1 base cash toll.
  • Convenience: E-ZPass users reduce their commuting times and save gas, as special E-ZPass only lanes process vehicles more rapidly.
  • Mobility: E-ZPass electronic toll paying is now available at 24 toll agencies in 14 Northeast, Middle Atlantic, or Midwest states. More than 22 million E-ZPass transponders are now in circulation.

Motorists who do not already have E-ZPass and are unable to take advantage of the QuickStart program also can sign up by calling 1-800-872-5061 or visiting www.ezpassdrjtbc.com.
