Woman sentenced for distribution of heroin |

MILFORD – A drug dealer, who was arrested as part of cooperation between the Pike County Drug Task Force Drug Task Force, Eastern Pike Regional Police Department and Port Jervis Police Department, was sentenced in Pike County Court on Thursday. Nydia Acevedo 38, of 34 Hammond Street, Port Jervis, will serve 3 to 6 years in a state prison, President Judge Joseph Kameen also ordered her to pay a fine of $900 and have her driver’s license suspended. Acevedo plead guilty to three felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance on July12. In pleading guilty she admitted that on January 26, 2012, in Westfall Township, she sold .24 grams of heroin to an undercover police officer for $260. Her second delivery was on January 30, 2012 in Westfall Township, where Acevedo admitted she sold .35 grams of heroin to an undercover police officer for $390. Her third delivery was on February 2, 2012 in Westfall Township, where Acevedo sold .36 grams of heroin to an undercover police officer for $650. After an undercover detective from the Pike County District Attorney’s Office purchased heroin from Acevedo in January, they contacted the Port Jervis Police Department. After further investigation, the Port Jervis Police Department was able to obtain a search warrant for Acevedo’s residence. The Port Jervis Police Department served the warrant in February 2012 and located the large amount of heroin and other drug paraphernalia. The investigation determined that Acevedo would also sell syringes to users of heroin along with the actual heroin. Acevedo will face charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree "With Intent to Sell", a Class B Felony in New York State for the seized heroin.
