Man, upset with football game, stabs dog, attacks cop

DINGMANS FERRY – A Dingmans ferry man is in jail after becoming enraged during Wednesday night’s NFL game on TV.

Police say Edward DeBlock Jr., 47, started stomping on the floor in anger during the game.  That apparently caused a pit bull boxer mix dog to bite him on the thumb.

A woman in the house at the time removed the dog to a bedroom.

DeBlock allegedly grabbed a knife then punched a hole in the bedroom door with his fist, entered the room and stabbed the dog in the leg.

Police were called.  When they arrived, DeBlock attempted to strike one trooper with a closed fist.

DeBlock was forcibly removed and taken to the Pike County Jail to await video arraitgnment on several charges including aggravated assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and cruelty to animals.

A family friend took the dog to an animal emergency clinic.
