Pike County veterans benefit from having local office

Bunce: "... getting benefits they
deserve"

MILFORD - According to Veterans Affairs Director, Pierce Bunce, the year-end total of benefits paid out to area veterans exceeded $1 million.

“This is the first time this has ever happened. Five years ago the total was $163,000,” said Bunce.”The VA is difficult to work with because it is overwhelmed. Our vets are finally getting the benefits they deserve.”

Bunce said that he is helping vets from WWII to those recently home from Iraq and Afghanistan at the Milford office.

“That $1million is new to Pike County”, Commissioner Rich Caridi said.  “Pierce fights passionately to get help for our veterans.

Commissioner Matt Osterberg explained that Bunce is helping his 88 year old father who is a WWII vet.

“I didn’t know all that was out there to help my father”, said Osterberg.   “Pierce helped me a lot”
