Two rescued from Delaware |
||||||
PORT JERVIS NY - Two women from Newark were hoping to enjoy a canoe trip on the Delaware River on the first full day of fall on Sunday. They did take some common sense precautions, including wearing life vests. That may have kept the two 23-year-olds alive. Their canoe flipped when they hit some unexpected turbelence near Port Jervis. Although the water was shallow, the current was too strong for them to get a footing. After reaching an island, one of the women was able to use her cell phone to call 911. Several area fire and ambulance teams responded. The two victims were wet but unhurt. |
