More charges filed in sexploitation case


STROUDSBURG -  A Florida man was wanted by Monroe County detectives for charges involving theft by extortion, promoting prostitution and criminal use of a communication facility. John Golom, 53, of Safety Harbor FL, who had been on the run since October of 2017 was captured in Queens by the NYPD.

The new charges were filed after an ongoing investigation revealed more victims.

Golom was housed at Rikers Island in New York until February 1st, 2018 when he was brought before MDJ Daniel Kresge for arraignment. At the time of his arraignment, a new criminal complaint was filed, including rape, human trafficking and involuntary servitude. Bail was set at $500,000 secured.

At this time, it’s believed there may be more extortion victims. The investigation is ongoing.
