EAST STROUDSBURG – More than 400,000 patients across the United States provide online feedback about their experiences with their physicians. Various components of the patient visit are rated including bedside manner, doctor-patient face time, degree of follow-up, courtesy of the staff, as well as overall opinions. The “Patient’s Choice” award is tabulated by MDx Medical Inc. MDx Medical Inc. recently informed Michael J. Greenberg, M.D., Medical Director and Radiation Oncologist, Dale & Frances Hughes Cancer Center at Pocono Medical Center, that he is in fact one of 5% out of the 720,000 active physicians to receive this honor. Kathleen E. Kuck, President and CEO of Pocono Health System/Pocono Medical Center explains, “For twenty years, Dr. Greenberg has been providing compassionate care and treatment to our cancer patients. This award reminds all of us about the commitment he has to his patients.” The online feedback is provided on a variety of databases on the internet such as Vitals.com, Health.com, as well as a variety of health insurance websites that allow for patient feedback. The reviews are completely unsolicited and thus represent opinions of the patients. Some additional information included in the databases are a profile of the physician and his or her credentials which includes board certification, number of publications, hospital affiliations and reputations, as well as the prestige of the medical program in which the physician was trained. All of this information is made available to patients and insurers so that they can assess the physician when choosing whom to see for care. |
