PINE PLAINS – The man who allegedly tried to run down a FedEx employee who confronted him about his driving, will stand trial on charges that include attempted murder. Joseph Paige, 22, appeared for a preliminary hearing Thursday. The magistrate found sufficient evidence to refer all charges to trial. The incident happened March 26, in the parking lot of the FedEx facility on Route 940 in Tobyhanna Township. FedEx driver Joseph Percoco, of Long Pond, claims he saw Paige driving erratically on Long Pond Road, including passing a school bus. Percoco called police. He later saw Paige drive into the FedEx lot and confronted him. According to testimony, Percoco claims Paige pulled out of his parking space, then hit Percoco, throwing him on the hood of his car. Paige drove about 150 feet, throwing him off the hood, then hit him again, causing some injuries. The judge sustained charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, causing an injury accident and driving without a license. Paige remains in the Monroe County jail in lieu of $250,000 bail. |
