MILFORD – The man convicted of firing the shots that killed Barry Rose will spend the rest of his life in prison. Marquis Keeys was sentenced to two consecutive life terms, plus additional time, for the August 2007 murder of Rose, in his Saw Creek Estates home. Keeys was convicted last week, in a non-jury trial. On charges of first, second and third degree murder, and several other crimes. The two consecutive life sentences are possible because of the first and second degree murder counts. Two co-defendants in the case, Cameron Harinarain, 19, and Justin Culver, 20, were convicted earlier this year, and received single life terms. The three were accused of breaking into the home of Rose, a retired New York City corrections officer, to steal weapons. A gunfight ensued. Rose was shot several times. |
